Women's Breast Health - Thermography and Hormone Balance

Women’s breast health… Finding our balance   (Article published in Green Living Monthly - September 2012)

There is a delicate balance women must make when it comes to breast health. It really is quite simple. As women grow older their bodies begin to lose their ability to produce the very hormones needed for a happy and successful life. As women enter the menopausal years, they face a difficult decision. Their bodies’ production of estrogen, progesterone, and other hormones needed to maintain youthful vitality rapidly declines. These symptoms are well known: Depression, irritability, and short-term memory lapses are very real menopausal complaints; along with hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, and weight gain. These problems can be quite profound with these adverse affects, which can alter a woman’s health for the rest of her life. This is why so many women are turning to what are called bio-identical hormones which the body recognizes as being the same as those which are produced naturally. The key is to make sure hormone levels are closely monitored to ensure a patient is getting just the right amount.  In fact, new studies have shown balancing hormones with bioidentical hormones may even reduce the risk of breast cancer.

To strike that critical balance between estrogen and progesterone levels goes beyond using bio-identical hormones, but in also balancing your nervous system including our neurotransmitters. Hormone levels are monitored with new advances in blood serum and saliva testing. For women who are taking bio-identical hormone replacements, these tests may be far less accurate than measuring levels in the blood. When it comes to measuring estrogen, Thermography may be one of our best tools. Thermography uses an infrared camera and is currently the only tool available for identifying Breast Specific Estrogen Dominance. One can clearly see vascular changes in the breast on the infrared gray scale images.  A thermogram of the breasts is the only non-invasive procedure that can detect estrogen imbalance in the breast. Breast tissue can have up to 50 times the estrogen concentration as blood serum levels.  If estrogen levels are imbalanced, it is imperative that the hormone levels be corrected. This is critical because studies have shown how elevated estrogen levels in the breast tissue lead to a greater risk of breast cancer.  The only natural elevations of estrogen in the breasts should be present when women are pregnant or lactating. When we see elevated levels, thermography can also be a tremendous tool for monitoring the effectiveness of our intervention efforts.

 Simply put, this is a tool that we can use to identify problems, and monitor our efforts towards prevention. Thermography is a state-of-the-art technology that uses advanced digital infrared computerized camera systems to detect heat patterns in the breast which are then analyzed by a doctor who is Board Certified in Medical Thermography. The results are powerful. Studies show that breast thermography has the ability to warn a woman that a cancer is forming up to 10 years before any other test can detect it.

 Among the most difficult of medical statistics is this one: One out of every eight women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime. Traditional methods of detection are no longer enough.  When mammograms are combined with thermography and clinical breast exams statistics reveal a cancer detection rate of 98%!   Perhaps more importantly, thermography provides predictive information allowing us to use it as a method to determine risk. Numerous studies have documented the presence of physiological changes consistent with cancer prior to anatomical detection with mammography. This is extremely important in working to prevent breast cancer. Thermography can be used to identify these physiological signs which precede cancer, and can monitor the ability of therapeutic intervention to effectively lower risk.  The American Cancer Society estimates that this year, over 192,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the USA alone. Even more tragic is the large number of cancer cases that will be missed until the cancer is very late stage and severe. Early detection is the key to surviving this deadly disease.
It’s more than just taking a hormone to feel better. When a woman can balance the hormone levels in her system, she can reduce her risk of disease. That’s medicine that not only makes you feel better today, but provides peace of mind for the future.

A Pioneer of Mammography Speaks out about Mammography vs Thermography

Guest Carol Conti. A pioneer in the field of mammography for over 36 years, Carol brings a wealth of information to the table. However, diagosed herself with breast cancer last year shook Carol into a massive revelation about mammography. Today an active thermography technician............(click on the above link to hear her talk show discussion).  It's about an hour talk show but I think it would be safe to say that this discussion will cover most questions you could have about these technologies. Thermography is the "standard of care" in Europe.  In the U.S. it is considered alternative medicine.  Learn about this incredible technology.  Knowledge is power!

October is breast awareness month.  Ladies, this is an incredible education on the history of mammography and its active role in breast health assessment.  Certain to be controversial regarding the amount of radiation from a mammogram, but if we bring thermography in for our younger women (under 40) with dense breast tissue, breast augmentation, fibrocystic breasts, pregnant and lactating women....we can realize a much higher rate of detecting breast disease, much sooner than with mammography alone.  The bottom line is that between thermography, mammography and clinical breast examinations, we are realizing 97% accuracy of detection.  No one single technology is sufficient in screening for breast cancer.  Thermography is an incedible breast imaging adjunct tool that all women should be utilizing to greatly increase their chances of detecting breast disease before a mass develops.  Thermography has no radiation, no compression and is non contact.  Breast cancer was recently diagnosed in a 10 year old girl in California!  Any age is safe for thermography.  It is never too early to start monitoring your breast health.

Beyond Pink - is a "fun"raiser charity event this year October, 5, 2012  at the Spokane Masonic Center to bring awareness to women about this technology.  It is a designer bra fashion show with all proceeds going to  benefit women who can't afford thermography.  Come be part of the fun or make a donation at: www.BeyondPink.net

U.S. Bank Health Fair

Thank you to all who attended the health fair last week.  It is wonderful to see a company that values their employees enough to provide such an event.  With U.S. Bank offering their employees a health savings plan, they are able to use those dollars for any medical procedure of their choice.  The ability to have thermal imaging done with these dollars is something every woman I talked to was interested in taking advantage of.  Some insurance companies are starting to reimburse for thermal imaging but until it becomes more wide spread, if you have a health savings plan, take advantage of it.

Thank you to U.S. Bank for your fair. It was a great mix of health care providers. I loved being by the free massages provided by Northwest Noetic School of Massage!

Health Fair - Sept 2011

Why Thermography is Often Misunderstood

Thermography's biggest downfall is that it finds disease too soon.  Because no other technology can "detect" what thermal imaging sees it is often labeled as a "false positive".  Thermography however, was usually correct as the studies have shown.  Most women were eventually diagnosed with breast cancer years after their positive thermogram.  What if they had utilized this early warning system by making lifestyle changes?  What if they could have turned the disease process around, thus preventing cancers ability to take hold?  This is where the scientific and research community has failed thermal imaging.
Thermography = risk
Mammography = detection
Biopsy = diagnosis
No single method of breast screening is adequate enough to trust our health with.  For best results a multi-modal approach should be used to keep our loved ones safe from this devastating disease. Remember over 80% of breast cancers are found by self or clinical breast examinations.  What if there had been an early warning system, years earlier?

Our Daughters - By Karla Porter

If you thought you had to wait until you are age 40+ or until you have a lump to start monitoring your breast health, you are wrong.  Digital thermal imaging, aka thermography, is recommended to start at age 20. Breast cancer doesn't care what your age is.
Thermography is 100% safe for anyone, anytime.  It is merely a picture of the heat emitted from the surface of your skin.  There is no other test like it or that can see the physiology (function) as early as this technology.  It can see disease years before any other tool available, thus giving you an opportunity for the first time to try and turn the disease process around before cancer has the ability to take hold.
There is no one tool available today that is 100% accurate by itself to trust your life with.  We need to use every tool available to fight this horrific disease.  To educate yourself better on this life saving technology visit www.iact-org.org for more information.  What have you got to lose?

2nd Opinions On Early Breast Cancer Diagnosis

  With as high as 25% overdiagnosed cases (as referred to in the Spokesman Review article published yesterday), from a study in Norway http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2012/apr/03/early-breast-cancer-of...isn't it time to educate ourselves better on what to do with a detected mass found by mammography?
Studies have shown that when combined:  Thermography, mammography and clinical breast exams are detecting up to 95% of cancers accurately.

What is Breast Thermography and Why Should I Have One?

What is Breast Thermography and Why Should I Have One?

Traditional medicine has failed women. Because standard practice can detect disease after it's well developed.  What angers me is that there is a simple test that can detect breast disease at it's earliest beinnings.  Yet, for too many women this is an option they don't even know exists!  Women we love are dying needlessly.  The evidence is overwhelming. Thermography is 98% effective in detecting this horrific disease when blended with traditional medicine.
 State of the art infrared systems are able to read functional changes in the breast at the beginning stages of angiogenesis - when the tumor begins to receive its own blood supply, before it can grow to size, and before malignant cells have a chance to spread.  By pushing back "early detection" by years, women can choose alternative therapies to cure their own cancer without surgery, radiation, or chemotheraphy - accurately monitoring their progress all the while.  What many American women are not aware of is the tragic fallacy of "early detection", as defined by the National Cancer Institute and conventional medicine in general.  In 95% of cancer diagnoses, by the time a malignant tumor is able to be detected by physical examination or mammography, it has existed for eight years, and has already had ample opportunity to metastasize (spread to other parts of the body).  By this time many women feel they have no choice but to undergo surgery, radiation, and chemotheraphy.
 By detecting breast disease before a mass is formed with thermography, you have the opportunity to make lifestyle changes and  help prevent cancer from taking hold in your body.  It's the best risk assessment tool available.  All women should be screening for breast disease with thermal imaging starting as early as age 20 or younger if indicated.  Women over age 50 and women age 40 with a history of breast disease, should be having thermal imaging in addition to mammography and clinical breast exams to monitor their breast health.  Mammography is not enough. We have all known or heard of the women who had a mammogram that either missed a mass, or prompted a biopsy that ended up negative.  Thermography fills the gap. It is the ideal adjunct tool as the missing link.  It offers you peace of mind...something we could all use more of.
Insight Thermal Imaging offers this life saving technology for yourself and those you love.
